The soldiers who fought during WWII are heroes in their own right. The battle overseas took its toll on each person that served. Whether it be mental, physical or the loss of their lives each of them are heroes to me. The diorama depicts a brief moment during the invasion of Germany when a group of American soldiers have taken a break from the front lines and taken up residence in a partially destroyed German building.
The building is from a Verlinden kit which I drastically altered by adding a roof and interior details. The tank is a Tamiya Sherman with a Verlinden turret and engine compartment. The truck is also Tamiya with a Verlinden engine compartment. The soldiers are a collection of Verlinden and Dragon figures. An assortment of accessories from my parts box finished it off.
The base is made of plywood covered in PermaScene. I painted the Permascene and then covered that in static grass. I added all of the elements to the base and made some adjustments with pastels to tie everything together. A coat of Testor's Dullcoat to seal everything and it's complete.
