Scale: 150mm
Whats to say? This is the Fort Duquesne 150mm figure of the 101st Spaceborn, 2010.
A simple figure, 5 parts, no instructions, hey, not even a colour pic on the box top. That is where you can go to town on this model, no preconceptions. It is a shame this figure appears to be now out of production.
What this figure gets down to is painting. I did not want to go too monotone so I decided to go a more geometric camo scheme. This process started with a base coat of grey auto primer then a wash of black. Then some masking fluid for chipping, applied randomly. Then it was masking time. Carefully place some tape on some glass and slash away with the number 11 blade. The resulting shapes were picked up from the glass and placed as randomly as possible on the figure. A coat of darker grey, more tape, Dark green, more tape, light gray and more tape. Finally a coat of sand. Finished ? uhh uhh uhh.
Final stages started with the tape removal and masking fluid removal, giving a very clean version of the camo scheme. The weapon is painted a dark green along with the other equipment. Armour joints a dark brown. Bits and pieces of the other armour bits, straps and such also painted. The face was painted with acrylics as well to give this a run rather than my more usual oils. Reasonably happy, but you have nowhere near the control you can get with oils. Weathering time.
It is pretty rocky, dusty and mucky down here on Klendathu so to achieve the look I was after we started with a bit of scouring with a scouring pad to get some scratches on the armour (this also helped with some of the more stubborn masking fluid) the a variety of earthy washes using artist oils. Blends of Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre mostly.
