Scale: 1/2500
The USS Daedulus is the hero of Atlantis and the Pegasus Galaxy. Its timely arrival during the Siege Part 3 saved Atlantis from certain destruction and during Inferno the safe evacuation of civilians.
This is the 1/2500 kit that Scifi Models was selling during Wonderfest this year. The very talented Mr. Bar (Barry Murray), who also has done the large F-302, sculpted the kit. The kit is nicely detailed but the casting for this piece was not very good. It must have been the last one casted with the molds since the other Daedulus kit I have has none of these problems. I had a large number of bubbles to fill as well as a large void that was in the main body. The void caused numerous soft points on the body itself. I finally had to cut out one of the weak spots and filled the void with putty. Looking at the box art and then the kit I thought adding antennas would be nice. I drilled some holes and used thin steel wire that I picked up from the local hobby shop.
After that was finished painting was simple. I sprayed a primer coat and then used Model Master Acryl F-15 Dark Gray as the base coat. Since it is an Air Force ship I thought it was appropriate. Then a light spray of Model Master Enamel Light Sea Gray was applauded over the base coat. A wash and some highlighting and it was finished. The antennas are painted with MME Gunmetal and the engine ports I used Tamiya White. Overall this is kit is fun and simple to build.
