Scale: 1/100 Another classic image from an era unafraid to dream; here is the classic 'silver needle' pointing to the stars. This is a modified Glencoe (Strombecker) Mars Liner. I wanted to depict it at a way station to the stars, it's fuel cells being re-fuelled by the crew a near-by space station. I first modified the landing legs of the kit to create the streamlined body which the fixed pose, with landing legs deployed always prevented. I then scratch built additional fuel tanks and attached them to a rig with fuel pipes being fed to the engine bay. Lastly the fine detail includes interior with crew and service team working in vacuum.Image: Bottom view Image: Rear view Image: Top view |
