Sci-Fi Spaceship Miniatures

Scale: 1:600 (my best "GUESS-timate")

I originally designed this model as a prop to help display my Airfix Orion kit, (which I haven't started yet), but it seemed appropriate for the contest, so I put my effort into this part of the project.

The diameter measures 18 inches and the height is approximetly 12 inches. It is made of inexpensive materials such as; wooden dowels, wire hangers, paper, tooth picks, and a Styrofoam ring from a craft store. Carpenters wood glue holds it together.

The surface details were copied from computer graphics created by an artist named WEST. The textures were scaled down and printed to a laser printer. After final assembly, I sprayed several coats of acrylic clear coat on the surface for a more uniform finish.

The graphic on the display stand was printed from a desktop color printer and the tiny space clipper is made of paper.
