Scale: None stated

The heavy cruiser "America" was recommissioned after 25 years of mothballs. It was originally part of a fleet of six "Planet Busters". It is the only remaining ship in its class, the others having been scrapped after winning the Earth - Zin conflict as the Zin homeward was destroyed by these ships. Besides the twenty main laser turrets and a full complement of Stinger class Hornet fighters carried in its hanger bay, the America has as its main armament six pulsed particle beam tubes mounted on out riggers port and starboard, also housing their own power supply mass reacters. These weapons work as a single beam and are designed to pierce a planets mantle, and massive volcanism released effectively destroys the planet. The America is about 1500 ft long, and has a crew of 4500 including ships' crew, air wing, and support. The battle group is accompanied by destroyers, corvettes, and supply ships, all with their own air wings.

The model is about three feet long, built of sheet styrene and abs, pvc pipe a few ship parts, some A10 parts, WWII half-tracks, apollo capsules and some submarine parts for surface detailing. It was built in about two weeks. It is painted Rebel Gray. The "America" was built for my personal collection about thirty years ago, before Star Wars or Galactica.
