Captain Harlock's Arcadia

"Captain Harlock's Arcadia, a massively powerful battleship built by Tochiro Oyama in secret before Earth's fall to Illumdian forces. Harlock, formly captain of the earth space fleet battleship Deathshadow, not wanting live under Illumdian rule, took the Arcadia and his small crew and left Earth behind to sail the sea of stars and live free under his flag. Equipped with six forward torpedo launchers, eight side torpedo launchers (four per side), strong anit-fighter craft defense weaponary, heavy beam weapons, its own fighter wing with craft of unknown capabilites and 9 heavy shock cannons mounted in three triple mounts of unknown power out-put and penetration strength. Although the Arcadia's current whereabouts is unknown, the Arcadia itself to date is known to be unmatched in combat, and is known to be capable of devastating entire fleets of vessels. Engaging in combat with this vessel is not recommended until such a time that effective tactics and weaponary can be bought into service."

The Model:

Nothing fancey heres gents, just Bandai engineering. This is Bandai's 1/1000 Arcadia built pretty much out of the box. The only thing I did was add the three slats of sheet plastic in the first intake under the bow. Tamiya paint was used thoughout, using 5 shades of green. Being an old kit (released for the first time back in '81 or '82 as I recall....), its not the best fitting thing out there. By that I mean its not up to modern standards, but it wasn't bad either. The Skulls and gold details on the back were all painted by hand again with Tamiya paints. The flag cut up abit to be abit raggy looking, to match what I've seen in comics, and the movies.
