This alien battlefortress crashed in the South Pacific in 1999, halting a global civil war. Over ten years it was rebuilt by the combined resources of the entire globe. It is the largest and most powerful vehicle in the U.N. Spacy, its technology used to create an armada of other smaller space cruisers and fighting mechs.

The exterior of the SDF-1 is covered with beam weapons, missile turrets, and rail guns. On its port side is the CVS Submersible Aircraft Carrier 'Prometheus' and starboard is the SLV Beachmaster Class vessel 'Daedalus', both salvaged from a spacefold disaster that left them stranded in space.

The combined mech complement of the three vehicles are 300 transforming Valkirie fighter planes and 190 ground mechs of various models, and other support craft. The nose of the SDF-1 is the "Main Gun", a powerful cannon that fires an energy beam two miles wide and 60,000 miles long, absolutely destroying EVERYTHING in its path!

The Model

I built this from the Revell 1/5000 scale ROBOTECH kit back in 1986, but, after sixteen years of rough handling, it found its way to the bottom of the parts box, more superglue than actual model. Fortunately whoever packaged the kit mistakenly put TWO kits in the package, which gave me all the spare parts I needed to rebuild this thing. The hull is Testors Panzer Gray and Camouflage Gray, and all details are hand-painted except for the "101" on the carrier deck.

It is approximately 9 1/2" in length.
