The Future
Dateline: 2092

After several years of battling the government about the ban on fuel burning racecars on Earth, NASCAR had to take their racing to the moon colony New Atlantis. Hence the new acronym of NASCAR - New Atlantis Space Car Auto Racing. In its 100th year of NASCAR support, Interstate Batteries has chosen to support the Gibbs Family Racing Organization's new Pontiac "Mach V" racecar.

The Model

The model is a Polar Lights Mach V Speed Racer kit.

This kit was built for a contest's "out of the box" category, or "curbside" entry. I chose to build it with the closed canopy as my kits original open canopy suffered from a lack of see thru clarity. Originally, I called it the speedway version, but it works for an enviroment such as the moon. The kit was a rather simple one, though the headlights were a bit tough to get on without ruining the paint job.
