I'd say my models are inspired by a mix of Kow Yokoyamas stuff and obviously Star Wars. The "pod racer" is built mostly from a 1/72 junkers88. The engine intakes are from a 1/35 cobra. The rocket exhausts are from a Space 1999 Eagle. I had to hurt a bunch of other models too...

I learnt a couple of important lessons on this one. If you are gonna use pastel chalks for weathering don't touch the model. I put invisible finger prints all over the model before I added the dust and as a result the model has some rings and whorls on it. Also its true what they say about overcoating pastels. They don't look as cool as they did before the flat coat.

The other thing about this model is that its a hard to get in close with the camera and get good angles against a cool back drop because of the shape of the model, its weight and fragility. I wouldn't do this again. I'd put the pilot at the front so I can get him in focus and not worry about the rest of the model.... and I'd make a stronger model.... with better mounts for filming. Hey the pilot would actually be able to see where hes going too.. which might be a bonus...

Another first for this model was using fineline tape for masking. It works really well. Very pleased with how the racing stripes came out.

Oh one other cool thing. The decals on the inside of the motor pods are from a letraset PCB layout set I got in radio shack. They have a variety of cool pads for soldering transistors and stuff down. They look pretty sci-fi to me and you get a lot for your money.
