USS Crazy Horse

By Brian Miller

Here's some pictures of my Excelsior class USS Crazy Horse.

It started as an AMT Enterprise-B that I built quite a while ago, but never finished. In 1/1000 scale, of course. While moving it recently, the nacelles fell off, so I decided to strip it down and rebuild it. I've got some more exciting projects on the table, but wanted to get this one off the shelf and back on display.

So it was down to the components, filling, priming and repainting in the classic light gray. I decided that since it was a never-seen variant, there was no real need for accurizing parts. However, I used the very fine decal sets for the kit from JT Graphics and PNT Models, available from Fed Models and the ever-faithful SSM Store. These really make the model, as you can see. They applied very well, even the long thin ones really didn't rip overly easy.

I decided on the Crazy Horse as a tribute to Neil Young's very noisy band, no disrespect to the real Crazy Horse. Of course, I'd also like to mention that the Starship Modeler Hardware reference on the Excelsior class was a huge help in painting and decaling.

So it's back on the shelf, and looks great next to the PL Enterprise.
