12 May 2046 Dear Valued Customer, Congratulations in purchasing your new Ho-229-p(ersonal) aircraft! Your Ho-229-p is powered by twin Pratt & Whitney StratoKaster 500's and will provide you with uncompromising power, performance and maneuverability. Whether winging your way to that important meeting in the city, a vacation at your cabin in the mountains, or that secret fishing spot down in the bayou, the Ho-229-p will get you there fast, and with all the style and comfort you expect from a Horton. And with only a 27 ft. wingspan, and nose-to-tip length of 14 ft., you'll never wait in long lines for a parking spot at your local airpark.
With regular service your Horton will last a lifetime. For your convenience you can take your Ho-229-p to any one of our friendly and efficient service centers: Knopfler-Atkins International Airport in Tennesse is home to our corporate headquarters and main maintenance facilty; our wing assembly and repair plant is located at Roskam Field in Kansas; and engine refurbishment and overhaul is performed in our plant at the Holly Memorial Industrial Park in Lubbock, Texas. Watch for our new service centers in Jackson Browne, Wyoming in 2047, and Keillor, Minnesota in 2048. To book an appointment, call 1-800-FIX-WING. Once again, thank-you for purchasing a Ho-229-p and choosing to “See the USA the Horton way”. Sincerely, Dr. Dieter Timothy Horton, III
P.S. Your 1/24 scale table-top model is built from a Dragon 1/48 'Ho-229B Nachtjager'. The single-seat cockpit is made from the instrument cluster cut from the dashboard of an AMT / Ertl 1949 Mercury, and the seat and steering wheel are from an AMT / Ertl Moonscope. The canopy was cut open cross-wise with a razor saw to convert it to a flip-open style. The airplane is painted with Krylon silver and fogged with Krylon flat black. Exhaust stains, dirt and grime are dusted on chalk pastel fixed with Testor's Dullcote. The lucky-7 wing decals are left-overs from an ancient Eldon stunt-drivers slot-car set.
