The time AD or BC no longer has meaning as there is no before or after Christ.

On a bright, clear night a star is seen in the sky, so bright that it seems to be divine. The shepherds out in the Arabian scrublands gaze up enchanted as the slow arcing star passes over head, and they follow it westwards towards the town of Bethlehem. Quite suddenly the star brightens and then falls earthward, plumeting into the dark, still Yam Ha Melah. The shepherds walk on through the night and before daybreak come to the Dead Sea. There, rearing from the deep waters is a craft like none they have ever seen. Around the banks are many travellers, shepherds, and wise men, all looking on in awe.

Miles away the birth of a boy goes un-noticed.

The Model

Being pushed for time ( I had less than five days to devote to this) but keen to finally get a entry in, I started by sawing the end off from my uncompleted "battle ship" that never made a previous compition. This is, in fact, the tank from a carpet shampooer, detailed with all sorts of bits from the spares box.

My attempt at water failed and after re-sanding the base, I sprayed it black and green before varnishing twice. Normal model railway (railroad) skills built up the corner, with a conversion of a linesman into a shepherd with milliput putty.

An airbrush was used for the craft, paint brushes for the sheep and man.The photos tell the story, no trickery just from low angles to try and convey height and awe.
