Scale: 1/48
Year of time divergence: 70 million years (or so) ago

70 million years ago, a Dinosaur moon landing went bad. The remains lay undiscoverd until the crew of Apollo 18 happened to land right by, not knowing that their Alien discovery is actually from their own world.

70 million years ago a specially cultured space-creature was grown, to take the first Dinosaurs to the Moon. Unfortunately, it crash-landed and was lost. The Asteroid that destroyed the Pangea civalization insured that the lost moon-creature would for forgotten. Whomever the intrepid Dinonaut was, he managed to activate some instruments, which ceased to function long ago. His last act was to raise the flag of his clan and proudly hold it up, long after succombing to oxygen starvation. In the interviening millenia, the flag fell and his suit eventually started to disintegrate. Today, the derilect is covered in a thin layer of moon dust and is more of a fossil then a spaceship.

The Model

I got a new Track Ball and when I took the plastic bubble off of it, I saw an alien space ship in the making. It wasn't until the ALTERNATES contest came about that the idea was realized. The base is foam-board, with paper mache features, covered with a layer of Talcum powder. The ship's spines are milliput, with a couple shells to give it a more natural look. The Dinosaur is from a Tamiya kit, in a foil space suit.

At any rate, I had a blast making something this.. alternate.
